The creation of ESPÉRER was sparked by the personal journey of its founder, Dina El Adlani, a Psychologist and Psychodermatology expert. While studying psychology, Dina worked as a freelance makeup artist, where she was deeply moved by how much her clients’ self-esteem and self-image were connected to their appearance. She noticed a recurring theme: when people felt bad about their skin or looked in the mirror and didn’t like what they saw, their emotional state would significantly decline. Conversely, when they had glowing, healthy skin, their confidence and mood improved.

 

Dina herself struggled with her self-esteem throughout her life. Her own experiences with skin health and the emotional toll it took on her sparked her interest in understanding the deeper connections between mental health, skin, and self-image. The desire to create a skincare brand that would go beyond the physical surface and address emotional well-being was born from this realisation.

In 2010, Dina embarked on extensive research into psychology, dermatology, and neuroscience, determined to create a skincare line that could address both the skin and the mind.  ESPÉRER was officially established in 2019, after conducting several clinical trials and collaborating with leading experts in various fields, including dermatologists, herbalists, agricultural specialists, and neuroscientists. The goal was to create a line of skincare that worked at a deeper level—by acknowledging the direct impact that negative emotional states and mental health have on skin health.

 This interdisciplinary research led to the development of NeuroPlant™ Technology, a unique complex of bioactives and plant compounds that stimulate the release of positive neurotransmitters. NeuroPlant™ works to combat the effects of stress on both the skin and mood, promoting overall health and well-being. ESPÉRER first launched with its signature “Beauté de la Nuit” collection, which featured three night repair facial oils. In 2024, ESPÉRER took a monumental step forward by opening its first Psychodermatology Clinic in the Harley street district —a space dedicated to integrating skincare with mental well-being. The clinic offers treatments that address both the physical and emotional aspects of skincare, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients tackle stress and emotional issues that manifest on the skin.

 

In a groundbreaking move, ESPÉRER is also the creator of the first CBT Facial and Psychotherapy Facial otherwise known as the ESP Facial , an innovative treatment that blends skincare with therapy to address the emotional and psychological triggers behind skin concerns. These facials, which can only be delivered by Dina herself—trained as both a psychologist and CBT practitioner—are a unique offering that combines science, beauty, and mental health.

 

As part of their ongoing expansion, ESPÉRER plans to offer specialized training in CBT for facial therapists. This training will allow therapists to become certified and be able to provide these transformative treatments in clinics and spas globally, spreading the benefits of psychodermatological skincare® to an international audience.
